A popular race on a popular hill.
The biggest dangers are colliding with hill walkers and tripping on the stony descent.
This race has a high casualty rate, with bloodied knees and several broken ankles in recent years.
That said, it's a great race with distinct sections of forest trail (largely felled now), open hill, plateau, summit dome, and narrow summit ridge.
The fastest times on Ben Lomond are never likely to be beaten.
1:02:16 - John Wild (1983)
1:11:57 - Beverley Redfern (1990)
The records shown above are the fastest times from the modern era.
Note that John Wild won the Ben Nevis race in 1983 in 1:25:35, just 1 second slower than the record set by Kenny Stuart in 1984 which has stood ever since.
